Michael writes with real transparency revealing how he came to grips with the identities in his own life. He makes it easy to relate to and shows how to apply the principles in your own life. Michael is articulate and genuine. This book will be transformational!

This inspiring book is from the heart and mind of a truly remarkable man. Michael J. Lewis creatively addresses the most important need in our society – people knowing their significance. Lewis honestly engages the reader in conversations without shame or condemnation while bringing piercing truth. He points out the way the world puts labels on us yet never defines who we are. Michael’s personal experiences give us examples of how our identity can change based on conditions. He defines terms for accepting who we are apart from Christ and encourages us to embrace who Christ is in us.

Michael Lewis points us to the community we were created for, reminding us how isolation brings the worst parts of who we are to the surface. Chapter by chapter he explores a persons action when their identity is challenged revealing what happens to Christians when we act in opposition to our identity.
Michael clearly remarks how our worth is not in what we do; it is not our academia achievement, title, position or accomplishments yet when all these things flow out of being in Christ we delight in Him and all He created us to be.

Michael demonstrates Christians standing out in a good way when they know their value and understand the price paid for every life. Step by step Michael lays out the fullness of freedom every Christian longs to experience, clarifying our potential in God’s Kingdom as we understand God decided we were worth dying for on a cross for.

Everyone is right in their own eyes but it is The Lord who weighs each heart (Proverbs 21:2). As we think in our hearts so are we
(Proverbs 23:7). May the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in The Lord’s sight; He is our rock and redeemer (Psalm 19:14).

Michael Lewis brings to light the importance of “true worth” that lies in each one of us. Through humility and admissions of struggles, he uses biblical truths to bring understanding to the reader the freedom found in this simple truth.

What is our purpose in life and what’s it worth? If you’ve ever wondered something similar, you will find True Worth: Identity in Christ by Michael Lewis a refreshing perspective for finding worth in Christ.

This has changed my thinking in many ways. The transparency of Michael in this book is amazing and brings to the forefront of who you are and who you can be by finding your true worth… thank you for writing this book

Michael is establishing himself as a new voice of authority in the church! In this book, he lays out a compelling vision of radical faithfulness and transparency within the church, encouraging God’s people to let go of false, cultural idols and identities so they might lay hold of the one thing they have desired most…a secure identity based on the sacrificial love of God for us. He methodically exposes the faulty foundations of the many secular pop-psychology worldviews we tend to gravitate toward and presents identity in Christ as not only the biblical alternative, but a much better basis for life. The book both pierced me and healed my wounds at the same time as he invited me on a journey to freedom he himself has taken. It is informative, relevant, and highly relatable, which made it very easy to read. And it will punch you in the nose a few times. You won’t forget it!

Michael has written a very humble and honest book. He is a man of integrity allowing his readers to see he is very openly transparent man. All of his writing will be suitable for all ages and shows great morals to live by.

During my reading of this amazing book the Lord clearly spoke to my heart and profoundly revealed Himself to me through Michael’s writings.  Thank you Micheal for your  hard work and your willingness to serve as  the Lord’s vessel in order to produce this life giving God given self help game changer.  The more I read the more my spirit bore witness to the fact that every word in this book was written under the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  True Worth offers profound scriptural truths as well as real honest answers to some of  life’s  most perplexing questions surrounding the importance of knowing who God has created us to be.  The timing of this book could not have come at a more critical time than now. It is fidelity important as too how we see ourselves as to where we fit lieu the current world in which we live.  True Worth is for everyone, the believer as well as the non believer.  Being an older woman of African American descent, I grew up (for years) suffering from an identity crisis as a result of the mistreatment by other’s who did not look like me and consider me of less worth. This deeply affected my self worth and the way I felt about the way other’s perceived me. I highly recommend this book for anyone struggling with the understanding of who you are or who you were created to be.

True Worth: Identity in Christ has taken me on a journey that has given me new ways to dig deeper into who I am and Who I represent. I have noticed that there are areas I do hold others to higher standards because of their title and I have honestly felt, at times, that I deserve better treatment because of my education level. For example, I have been our church’s pre-k/ kindergarten teacher for over 12 years and I can recall feeling a sense of pride come over me after telling that to someone with an attitude of “Hey look at what I’ve done!” That is not who I am and that is not how I want others to see me. I like how the author explains “What you achieve does become a part of who you are, but it does not define who you are.” After reading this book, I feel like I can, not only step away from prideful thinking, but also look at others with a lens of understanding that I am not better than them because I volunteer or because I’m close to gaining a bachelor’s degree. The author lovingly addresses how we limit others because of their titles or lack of titles. I agree with him and have discovered some of my own convictions through reading this book. I have begun to ask myself who am I trying to impress? Thankfully, I don’t need to impress anyone, and the author gave me a reminder “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10, NLT).

I really enjoyed this book because of its transparency which provides a refreshing and insightful look at some very difficult subject matter. What I liked most of all was Michael’s ability to take the reader on an introspective journey to the discovery of why we continue to make the choices that hinder our growth as individuals. One idea that I learned is that absolutely everything we do is entrenched in our identity. I believe Michael has received his credentials from the Lord to write this book and shed light on a topic that is imperative to understand what it means to walk in true freedom. This book is for those who are seeking change, it is not for those who are satisfied with remaining the same. I highly recommend this book. Within the first 3 chapters I found myself gaining courage to step out in faith on decisions God has been calling me to make. After a whole year of wrestling to make a major decision out of fear I finally recognized through the reading what the source of my fear was… my identity entrenched in the expectations of others. I encourage you to read this book so you can experience true breakthrough as well.

  11. Maranda L

I love Michael’s genuine-authenticity in this book as he reveals real life accounts of healthy and unhealthy identities, not only in Christ, but also in other roles in his life. I like that he covers hard topics that many avoid. If you’re struggling with an identity crisis or know someone who is, you’ll find this book encouraging with clear practical ways on how to navigate and achieve your “true worth” in Christ.

Truly am I humbled to witness the personal transformation of Michael and his lovely wife Claire, the impact of this offering will allow you to clearly perceive your identity in Christ in a world that bases your identity on facts, like that little ID card inside your wallet. God gave Michael these tools strategically to help you become more like Jesus Christ, as a skilled builder, he’s laid the foundation through this powerful treasury you’re about to read.

    Scriptures referenced:

“For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face. Now I know in part [just in fragments], but then I will know fully, just as I have been fully known [by God].”
    ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:12‬ ‭AMP‬‬

“According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.”

The message Michael shares in this book will help men and women reach their potential, value their role, and discover God’s True Worth for their live. A truly powerful book. I highly recommend this book to any one seeking answers to living more abundantly.

  14. Sara Adamchak

True Worth was such a refreshing and empowering read. As a busy mom I appreciated the simplistic and quick style of Michael’s writing. That is not to say the content wasn’t rich. This book is full of wisdom that we can easily use to turn our lives from living how we think we should due to labels we/others put on us to living the life Christ designed for us. As I have been wrestling with the age old question, “Who am I” lately, I am glad this book fell into my hands! This book is for anyone looking to discover their true worth. You won’t be disappointed with this one!

  15. Cindy Hendricks-former Sgt. USMC

True Worth is a revealing journey into the fundamental truth of self discovery written by a most exemplary Christian. This book has inspired me to earnestly search within myself for the higher purpose many of us struggle to find. Reading True Worth was an experience that left me humbled and opened my eyes a little wider to God’s will for my life.

A few years ago I had the privilege of meeting this extraordinary young man. I found him to be a great husband to his wife and loving father to his children and personally I found a lasting friendship.

In this book Michael endeavors to take the reader on a unique journey of self-discovery. Drawing from his own personal experience as a marine and everyday life, he breaks open the makeup of what forms our identity, what controls us and what helps us make decisions.
It is clear from the commission he received to write, that he wanted to honor God and give his very best. I believe this is a vital book for everyone, believer and unsaved, to help understand who and what they are and how to actively live everyday life to God’s glory.

As a leader, we have to wear many mantles of responsibility. In a very simple and understandable manner, Michael unmasks the layers of responsibilities, revealing them to be complementary rather than adverse.

With this refreshing and honest look at life, I highly recommend this book for anyone!

If you are serious about God, this book is for you.
If you want to know who you are, this book is for you.
If you need to learn how to interact with others, this book is for you.

  17. Megan Yost

I am loving this book and the insight Michael has! It is well written and thought out, you can tell the author has put a lot of thought and consideration into the chapters. This is the book for you if you’ve ever wondered why people act in certain patterns or follow behaviors we may not personally understand. Michael’s knowledge on the subject of identity is backed up well with scripture and sound theology. Definitely recommend!

  18. Robert Sepulveda

The book provides interesting details about why people behave certain ways and makes a strong argument for why having a true identity in Christ can overcome negative behaviors or addictions. It explains what this true identity means and why many practicing Christians are not truly serving God. There are interesting details about the various identities in people’s lives and their effect. If you are a Christian, you will receive guidance. If you are a non-Christian, you will gain an interest in finding your identity in Christ. Everyone will gain some awareness about their, and others, behaviors.

  19. David F

Michael Lewis describes how we each have multiple identities daily. He uses his own experiences and humility to describe how they have shaped his life through his faith and humility.
True Worth is a tinder of how our various can help remind us of who God wants us to be. This book helps as a reminder how we can use each of our identities to become the kind of person God wants us to be.

  20. Maryruth Dilling

I rarely give a book 5 stars, no matter how good it is. To me, that is only for those being close to perfect. I have to say, for a young man I knew as a kid, I never thought this book would come close to earning five stars from me.
I love the book. It’s real. It’s gritty. It’s authentic. Michael is honest about his past struggles living as a man of God. For each point, he gives real examples, so the reader has no problem applying the information to their own life.
There are so many take-aways from this book. I have highlighted large sections of each chapter so I can find these wonderful nuggets of gold faster in the future.
Again, because I knew him as a young child, it was a bit strange to be reading such wisdom. Despite his youth, I could tell that he had learned some heavy lessons under God’s guidance. I even felt some, ‘Hey, you need to listen to this’ from God as I was reading.
There are few authors that I can completely say that their book is for anyone, but this is one book I would recommend for anyone. There’s no one who has not struggled with identity issues. There’s not a single Christian who has not battled some habitual sin.
If you are searching for something to fill up that God-hole and failing over and over again, Michael has some great step by step suggestions on how to go about resolving that emptiness we all feel at one time or another.

  21. Matthew Piciulo

This book transcends one of the biggest missing pieces inhibiting men of the kingdoms ability to walk in true purity and truth. The concepts of Michael’s heart for the Lord and real time experience will be encouraging and convicting to lead you into the hands of the Lord and show you just how loved and that you matter! Not the usual Christian noise of cliché after cliché we’ve heard time and time again but an enlightened and fresh look at what it takes to be one with the Lord and take back ground for His kingdom!

  22. Jeana S.

This book opened up thoughts and feelings that I have struggled with most of my life. The truth shared and Michael’s real life examples hit home. I love how he circles back and reminds us that without Christ we can do nothing. This book will be one I will re-read time and again (with a highlighter) for sure.

  23. Janet McCarthy

This book will change your perspective and your life. Thank you Michael for opening yourself up to help us understand. The way you explain identities and describe what is important in our lives and how to achieve it is priceless. I didn’t want to miss one word! I have been working towards this goal for so long and Michael explains it all so perfectly. Thank you, Michael, for putting yourself out there to help others to understand as well. Your Faith is refreshing and pure. I hope to be able to get this book in every hand I can. Especially the girls I work with in the Transitional House for recovery.

“True Worth” is a detailed blueprint guiding us into a sanctity of life. The theme is simple..
“To have identity in Christ and to be led in His ways is so much better than being led by the
ways of the world.” Truer words were never spoken. Michael clearly gives us the wherewithal to pursue with new vigor this amazing “Identity in Christ” A real wake up call.

  25. Zully Rangel

This book delves into both spiritual and societal issues that challenge us daily. Michael really unearths what we as humans tend to lack in Faith and awakens us to understand our own value, away from external sources. We look to worldly things forgetting we have Christ within us – so we seek our value externally in material things. Much of Michael’s insight touches on more than just the religious aspects Christianity. It’s about living a more fruitful life while we wait for our forever home and step away from what society tempts us with for there is more value in Christ. This is an inspirational read, and I hope it blesses many! I will be recommending it as a tool to strengthen Faith and “True Worth” in the eyes of our Lord, allowing HIM to shine through us. This books calls to mind one of my favorite passages in the Bible –

    1 Corinthians 15:10

“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.”

This book really showcases the epitome of this scripture! Bravo!

” AS we grow in our awareness of the identities that vie for our attention in pressure situations that demand action, we can better assess the situation , make better decisions, and take more appropriate steps in response”
Michael Lewis Can you think of any other reason to read Michael’s book than this? I can think of more than a few! It’s like you are letting us in on this Amazing secret that really is no secret at all. All we have to do is listen and hear.

  27. Madison Lamb

This book was EXACTLY what everyone needs to hear. At least I know it’s what I needed to hear as someone who was raised Christian but felt something was missing in my walk with Christ as an adult.
Michael does an excellent job of reassuring and motivating the reader toward looking at their life in a unique way that keeps God on top.
Each line I read felt like an “aha-moment” and settled a lot of uncertainty I personally felt.
My favorite part is how he gently reminds you that keeping Identity in Christ first isn’t limiting and will allow you to enjoy the world more by recognizing that the greatest satisfaction comes from living as a Child of God and not money, achievements, etc.
The vulnerability and worldly comparisons Michael uses made the message easier to understand for anyone and I will be sharing this book with many of my loved ones and people I know who follow or want to begin following Christ.
I loved every minute of reading this book, it left me with feelings of warmth and clarity.

True Worth: Identity in Christ has the tools that relate to everyone in their life. There are exemplary examples that relate to real life experiences. It will have you examining your own life and when you think there is is the slightest comparison you are stopped to realize that life means so much more than the value you have placed on yourself. I would recommend this book to anyone struggling to find a path to God. The value of life according to this read is more than anything you could possibly obtain from this world. I was inspired by the directness used that helped outline the battles and tribulations that we use to keep ourselves down and the helpful way this book lights a positive path to reconnect with your true worth as stated in the title. Michael Lewis has a true heart and continues to insert this into his book and his life shared throughout this book.

  29. Kyle Kunkle

True Worth takes an in depth look into the identities that we place on ourselves and uses scripture to expose the lies that we believe because of these identities. Michael uses personal experiences to help the reader better understand the ideas and concepts he is talking about. I truly enjoyed reading this book because it helped me pin point areas in my life I had unhealthy identities in.

  30. Joshua Shugg

Don’t judge a book by its cover, or give it a label while you find yourself struggling to find your True Worth! Open the book and see how many different identities author Michael Lewis has been puzzled with throughout his personal journey. You feel the passion in the book to find a way to break out of the identity-driven lives we live today and see that our identity in Christ is all we need! Want to know how to get rid of the generic labels the world has put on you? Read the book and see how unique your label can be when you find your True Worth: Identity in Christ!

  31. Constance Bestwick

Reading True Worth was both insightful and encouraging. Michael J. Lewis has delivered an exceptional book which asks penetrating questions and graciously assists the reader to recognize and “own” ways we and others see us. Some of those identities have been superimposed on us.

While some Chapters may punch you in the nose (because you recognize yourself in the story), the rest leads you to reasoning that will help you release some labels you no longer are. It is an excellent read. Well, get the book. You will be glad you did!

  32. Candida Duenas

I was fortunate to have received this book from Michael and Claire. I can relate to this book and Michael’s upbringing because I also grew up in a Christian family, going to church each Sunday. However, Michael is very thoughtful and down-to-earth. I think that anyone can relate to him or his point of view on some level. As for me, as a new nurse, this book has helped me become more assertive (overcome some of my timidness) when advocating for my patient’s care with doctors who can be dismissive or condescending. It’s helped me to remember that our worth is not in our education but in who we are as children of God. I also liked the discussion about humility. It has changed the way I appreciate life. I look differently at others now. I can’t judge anyone who society may deem as people who have not made the best decisions in life. Overall, a great read if you feel like something is not right about how you interact with other individuals in your life; or you feel like you want something more.

  33. Dan Tinger

True worth is an excellent depiction of how your relationship with Jesus Christ will determine how you see yourself and others around you. Author Michael Lewis is authentic, personal, and relatable in understanding how our identities should be grounded in Christ.
